Education: -
Unicef and European Union have been binding on the bilateral cooperation agreement on Monday to provide standardized child-friendly education to all children of pre-primary education. In order to provide effective, integrated and equitable primary education system, Bangladesh has been bound by the UNICEF and European Union's agreement to cooperate with the government. This association was officially completed by an agreement signing ceremony held between Bangladesh's delegation chief in Bangladesh, ambassador William Hanna and UNICEF Bangladesh delegate Pascal Villeneuve.
Through this cooperation agreement, the European Union has donated 35 million dollars (28 million euros or 28 million taka) to UNICEF for four years (2012-16) for the third primary education development program (PEDP-3). One-year-long primary education and education from first class to fifth grade are included in this program. UNICEF representative in Bangladesh, Pascalvilov, said quality education is the fundamental right of the people. But this right has not turned into reality for many children in Bangladesh. Education needs to be related to parents, teachers, students, society, civil society, NGOs, development partners and colleagues. Therefore, we are happy to have the European Union with us as a partner in helping all children of Bangladesh to implement the standard education. We thank the European Union for this liberalization. EU Ambassador Wyliam Hannah said investment for children is one of the main programs for EU.
